Yes, Kristen and I are both still alive and yes, we still record podcasts! After a month off because life got so crazy busy, we are here to chat about like 5o things. So much happened that this podcast really is all over the place. I hope you enjoy!
Kristen and I are back this time to talk about nothing but delicious white mess. We get into Armie Hammer's love of bondage, Big Little Lies, Feud, Logan, the unremarkable Beauty and the Beast, and debate whether stars should be dubbed when they need to sing in musicals. And we tackle Jane the Virgin's big misstep.
This podcast is truly a mess. By the time we get around to actually talking about celebrity orgies, you'll have already waded through some foolish waters. Anyways, Kristen and I commandeered Joey away from Awards Circuit a bit to talk about many things including: Disney's first ever gay character who is actually an old character, the Grammys, Jordan Peele's Get Out with spoilers, and the wacky ending of the Oscars. We are also inspired by the Oscars to rank our Best Picture winners and make a list of all the people who would be in our celebrity orgy.
New podcast time! We are sorry that we left you bereft of a podcast as the world begins to go to shit but schedules and breaks and other things kept us from recording but never fear, we are here! This might be our most wide ranging podcast yet, and we commiserate over the All Lives Matters winning the Super Bowl, and then move on to talking about the Oscars, catching you up on Netflix shows Schitt's Creek and Santa Clarita Diet. We also dive into the Oscar race and debate the merits of La La Land and how many Oscars it should win. And finally, we wrap up by discussing the recent dragging of Taylor Swift and proceed to drag that bitch some more. Enjoy!
Well would you look at that, we're back with a new podcast this week that TWICE as long as it usually is. But what would you expect with us trying to cover an entire year in film as well as the foolishness of celebrities nudes leaking all over the damn place. We try to make sense of all the foolery, countdown our top 10 movies of the year, and then highlight some key elements from films that made the year what it is. Enjoy!
The final podcast of 2016 is here and right under the wire of the final days. Kristen and I take some time to make sense of all the celebs that have passed away before diving into our main topics: the terrible films Assassin's Creed and The Invitation, discuss the juxtaposition of dreams in Fences and La La Land, and what some of the highlights of the year were for us. Enjoy!
In an epic podcast, Joey Magidson from Awards Circuit joins Kristen and I to talk about everything from Hairspray Live and our ideal live musical productions, some crazy trailers including The Mummy, and we decompress from the end of Westworld season 1. Enjoy!
How have you all been in the past two weeks? I assume fine since nothing...oh what, a world changing election? Other mess? Of course. Well Kristen and I have soothed our souls enough to chat about the election of 2016, the messiness of new trailers for Ghost in the Shell and Beauty and the Beast, what works and didn't work in Arrival, and what we turn to for comfort in the foolery. We also do a Jane the (no longer) Virgin temperature check. Enjoy!
As promised, Kristen and I take a jump in the land of Westworld with our good friend Joey Magidson from Awards Circuit. We talk about the shows bending timeline, the bad ass female characters (Maeve and Dolores FTW), and the show's messy explanation of sexual politics. We also talk theories. Enjoy!
For the first time in ages, nothing truly and terribly messy happened! Kristen and I were overjoyed at the prospect of being able to not have to drag everyone by their eyebrows, but it did leave us in a bit of a tizzy about what to talk about. So in this wonderful podcast episode you'll get a variety of topics from some sports chatter on the drama of the Josh Brown debacle and the Cubs making the World Series to the debacle of The Rocky Horror Picture Show. We also dive deep into our excitement for Ava DuVernay's adaptation of A Wrinkle in Time and talk about the highs and lows of this season of Jane the Virgin. There's also a Halloween rec list at the end. Enjoy!
Chile...what the hell is happening in the world these days? Kristen and I were all set to talk about a few topics but then everything started getting crazy and so now we have an episode where we jammed the most possible topics into an hour and change that you could. We pontificate why white people and men are so awful with the Aladdin and Mulan live action news, the Bad Dads film, the Iron Fist drama. We then dove into what makes The Girl on the Train and Westworld work and what makes The Birth of a Nation and Luke Cage not. There's also a fun tag at the end of my thoughts on Tyler Hoechlin as Superman. Enjoy!
Welcome back loyal listeners! Today as promised we have former colleague Joey Magidson on to talk about the awards season coming upon us as well as how the youths view directors.
We also chat about a myriad of topics from Brangelina and how devastating it was to see them break up, naming your kids terrible names, and we chat about how dumb it is to tell people not to live tweet your show.
Welcome back to another edition of the podcast. Kristen and I are here to deliver your Sunday morning word of foolery and conversation. In today's episode we tackle the Lena Lenny Letter and how not to deal with people ignoring you, Matt Bomer and his controversial casting as a trans woman, give you an update on the Nate Parker conversation. We also chat about Queen Sugar and Atlanta, as well as the fall movie season and some festivals that are coming up.
These past two weeks have been such a mess showing us the highs and lows of what humanity has to offer. Kristen and I decided to chat about the myriad of messes that happened from #LochMess and the olympics, to the Nate Parker story, to how movies got in on the problematic angle. It's not all bad though, as we chat a bit about new albums including Glory from Britney Spears. Enjoy!
Kristen and I are back this week to chat about more hot messes than usual. UnREAL just finished its 2nd season and Suicide Squad came out, which leads to us discussing the nature of how stories are told. Plus we chat about Britney Spears reaching the end of her vocal range. Enjoy!
Welcome to an "emergency" edition of the podcast. If you haven't been living under a rock, you'll have noticed that we got a new Superman, played by Tyler Hoechlin, and the reaction has been divided lol. You either love or you hate it. But why? Well this week I brought in a guest, world renowned stand up comic and personal trainer extraordinaire Leo Flowers, to talk with me about the casting, how superheroes and their bodies affect society, and much much more. If you want a deeper podcast than normal this is for you as we chat about our life goals, how Leo wrote a book, and other fun things!
When we took our usual two week break, I thought the only drama there would really be would be the insane reactions Ghostbuster Bros have had to the movie. I didn't know that Kim K would cement her place as the Captain of Team Petty, that a critics organization would start to fall apart, that Comic Con would be ninth circle of hell hot or that there'd be so much more to discuss. So...I hope you all enjoy this epic and jam packed podcast!
Quick: Name the Emmy worthy actor that can give a thoughtful interview with anecdotes about meeting J.K. Rowling after being strapped to a rotating gondola all day on set. If you said Pedro Pascal, then you’d be correct. The actor, currently working on the Kingsman sequel, had a pretty tough day on set when we finally got to chat, but proved to be as elloquent and thoughtful as you’d think. Entering into mass public consciousness with his breakout role as Oberyn Martell in Game of Thrones, the actor has upped his game as DEA Agent Javier Pena on the Netflix show Narcos. Pedro and I spoke why he chose the role, the lengths he and the crew went to get the story right, and how Netflix is the perfect place for the show.
New Podcast! Kristen and I chat about the awful events in Orlando and how it put a damper on Terence's fun night at Pride, Noah Galvin's foot in mouth interview, the Hamiltonys, Hillary Clinton's big presumed win and Kristen rants about Me Before You. Enjoy!
It has been a minute since I graced the world with my voice and since my regular podcast cohost has been resting since we graduated, I decided to bring in Film School Rejects writer (and former coworker at Awards Circuit) Kristen Lopez to chat about the struggles with adapting things. We started off talking about the dreadful adaptation of an adaptation that was Pride and Prejudice and Zombies and move into how things generally get screwed up when films are made from other mediums. We then spend a nice amount of time chatting about the recent Captain America news and a hashtag for more inclusion. Enjoy!
If you follow any of my social media in the past year, you know that I stan for Adam Silvera, after his book More Happy Than Not devastated and wowed me last year to the tune of being my #1 book of the year. I have mentioned several times how excited I would be to meet him and luckily our schedules aligned enough that we were able to speak at Y'all West. Adam and I talked about everything from telling modern gay stories to how he really is a Slytherin masquerading as a Hufflepuff.
Many of you who are checking this out might not know who David J. Peterson is by name, but you certainly know of his work. I got to sit down with the author to chat about his work and career.
